Exposure Therapy: Dealing With Anxiety Over Sign to Voice Interpreting
October 15, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FREE workshop opportunity made possible by SLRS and OSU-OKC who have partnered together for those in the field of interpreting, who are Deaf or otherwise interested.
Workshop will be presented by Dan Martin and held at OSU-OKC, South Campus, Public Safety Training Center // Room #116.
All workshops will be accessible for Deaf and Hard of Hearing participants..
Description: At the beginning of our careers, we find ourselves experiencing a level of anxiety when we are thrown into certain interpreting situations. Sign-To-Voice interpreting in front of our peers is one of these situations. This workshop tackles this common challenge with a pragmatic approach that allows each participant the opportunity to experience hands-on practice in a setting that exposes them to real-life interpreting assignment anxiety.. Additionally, methods of dealing with that anxiety will be discussed during a question and answer time.
About the Presenter: Dan Martin holds an Oklahoma QA 5/5 certification and has been providing quality interpreting services in Oklahoma for several decades. He has extensive experience interpreting and transliterating for Mental Health, Medical, Educational and Religious settings. Dan enjoys attending professional workshops and continues professional growth and association with both professional and consumer-based organizations and communities.
